Spring Sessions 
2018

In spring we embarked on a walk starting from the northern tip of Jordan and ending in Sinai, Egypt. Spanning a distance of over 400 kilometers in 6 weeks, we engaged with the act of walking over a changing terrain, and seeked ways to contribute our artistic practices. Celebrating five years of Spring Sessions, this walk was an opportunity to reflect on learning and art-making outside of institutional frameworks and in the midst of constant relocation and movement.

Throughout the programme Yvonne also facilitated a long term workshop on utopian thinking by exploring methods of interweaving theory and practice.

Spring Sessions is an arts residency and experiential learning program based in Amman, Jordan. The program brings together emerging and established cultural practitioners to produce work and share outlooks. The purpose is to encourage participants to question existing paradigms by experimenting outside of traditional modes. The 15-week program consists of workshops, mentoring sessions and other activities that encourage participants to research and realize ideas related to the program.

Spring Sessions
​2016

Yvonne Buchheim facilitated a series of seminars titled (UN)THINK (RE)SEARCH which offered the opportunity to explore different theoretical considerations related to the ongoing program and learn from the fusion of theory and practice.
The seminars consisted of intensive multi-day sessions, each in preparation for a practical workshop. Reading and discussing philosophical texts in combination with practical exercises made us reflect on how theory can feed into the process of making art and how it can help to critically evaluate art works.
